I actually am hoping that this will always be the case, because I have managed to keep up with a lot of the important technologies for the retail industry, including point-of-sale displays, and I feel like this knowledge is going to help me compete a lot better.
One of the things that I think many small retailers do not realize is that it is getting more and more difficult every day to compete with some of the larger big-box retailers. Basically, these people have capital to burn and can spend lots of money just trying to destroy their small business competition. I have seen this happen in a lot of cities, and I feel like there are a lot of tools that small retailers could be using, like point-of-sale as an example, in order to make sure that they can compete effectively.
